Welcome to the UNECE Road Traffic Legislation Database
This database provides information on road traffic safety requirements in a number of UNECE countries. The data have been transmitted by Governments in response to a request from the secretariat to member States. The database contains information on the legislation governing speed limits, permissible levels of alcohol in the blood and methods of control, seat belts and child restraints, wearing of helmets, use of lamps, periodic technical inspections and driving permits.
Using the drop-down menus shown below, you may search the database by legal requirement(s), by country(s) and by UNECE sub-region. The database provides information in English only. The source documentation is available at the UNECE website in English, French and Russian The categories of vehicles referred to in the database are those specified in annexes 6 and 7 of the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (English, French, Russian).
National road safety legislation changes over time. UNECE updates the database regularly on the basis of the information provided to the secretariat by national authorities. New official information from UNECE countries as well as the updates and corrections of errors should be submitted to roadsafety@unece.org.
